Open spaces, green fields, wildlife, dark skies, stars and planets visible only from a small rural place.
“Views… views coming into the village… views from the hills… views of Bredon Hill… panoramic views of the Malverns.”
“I don’t want to lose the views and the starlit skies. Streetlights would destroy the night skies.”
“Rural locations are precious and disappearing.”
“We love the surrounding countryside, the narrow lanes and full verges brimming with wildlife.”
We love
Our rural lifestyle, our lanes and small village school.
“We live in a beautiful special landscape area next to the Cotswolds ANOB.”
“Our lanes are used extensively by walkers, riders, cyclists and joggers. Family walks are something very precious to us in this village.”
“Access roads are narrow lanes with single lane traffic in places.”
“We want our son to go to school in the village. We feel threatened by an increase in village size – can the school cope?
We need to be heard
Our rural environment and close-knit community are under threat
“Our allotments are unique, rare open spaces with incredible vistas – keep them!”
“We will lose the feeling of community if we have an estate. Those living on the outskirts will be badged ‘from the estate’.”
“Streetlights would destroy the night skies.”
“There is an imbalance here between gain and loss for everyone.”
“Once built on it’s too late to reverse it.”
Things we want to shout about
Traffic issues resulting from more houses. Too many cars on narrow country lanes.
"School already almost full – no extra capacity."
"Why build on greenfield sites? Protect the landscape.
"Street lights? No way!"
"Too many dwellings proposed. Don’t lose the feel of living in a lovely village. That’s what people expect when they buy ‘a house in the country."
"We are not Bishop’s Cleeve!"
Please Understand
Unregulated developer-led building around rural villages is not a good idea
“Local amenities would not be able to cope.. The school will be too full, the shop too small, local GP surgeries over-burdened. We will be forced to travel further for these services.”
“As there is only a limited bus service, this is not a sustainable solution.”
“Look first at the number of other planned building sites across the county/borough eg Bishops Cleeve and Ashchurch and prevent opportunistic development where there are no jobs.”
