Villages celebrates localism

Picture
Alderton Village celebrated "localism" in action when the recent Charles Church Development was refused by Tewkesbury Borough after the village had put up a strong argument as to why the development was a bad idea. Over 90% of Alderton participated in a local survey and a great many of the village worked in producing a professional objection and in sending objections to our local MP and the Tewkesbury planning committee. About Alderton

Alderton in the 21st century is a thriving community both proud of its history and agricultural heritage and its present day diverse range of community activities.   It boasts several picturesque listed buildings and a 14th century style Parish Church dedicated to St Margaret of Antioch which contains relics of an earlier Saxon structure.

Alderton still has a Post Office with general store, a thriving junior school, Village Hall, the Gardeners Arms public house, a garage with filling station, playing fields, allotment gardens with a community composting scheme and a newly formed Charitable Community Trust.

The village is a great place to live with a very active community and lots going on. To find out more about what's going on visit us on Facebook.
