- The site is outside of the recognised village settlement boundary
- The proposed employment development is in a remote, disconnected rural location with poor transport links, outside of where it would normally be considered
- The Joint Core Strategy seeks to centralise development around the existing population centres of Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury, not in rural locations, even where identified as service villages
- The emerging Alderton Neighbourhood Plan that has been examined and is going to Referendum does not identify the need for development on this site
- This site is in a Special Landscape Area and development would encroach into open countryside, substantially altering the character of the area and adversely impacting on the setting of the Cotswold AONB
- In the last few years Alderton has had 71 new houses developed and a further development of this size is likely to cause harm to the social wellbeing and community cohesion of Alderton
