Come along to St Margaret's Church Food and Fizz evening in Alderton Churchyard on Saturday June 11th starting at 6pm. Karen Cox's woodwind group will be playing background music and there will be an exhibition of royal memorabilia in the Church to celebrate the Queen's birthday. Tickets are £5 and include canapes. There will be a pay bar.

Rain or Shine Theatre Company is back on the road this summer, with a tour of Shakespeare’s magical play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, being performed at outdoor venues across the county.
Arriving at Dumbleton Hall for an alfresco performance on Thursday 23 June 2016, this mysterious masterpiece will transport audiences to an intoxicating dream world filled with magic and mischief.
When love and illusion collide, two pairs of lovers become entangled in fairy mischief on the eve of a royal wedding, in this timeless, funny and beautifully lyrical play.
Widely performed around the world and thought to be one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays, A Midsummer Night's Dream is bursting with colour, romance and chaos, in a show sure to delight.

The Alderton Charity Christmas Fair brings a choice of cards and “postable” gifts close to home. Charities taking part include the National Trust, Cobalt, Guide Dogs, Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, Glos Arthritis, RDA, LINC, Maggie’s Centre and the RNLI and RSPB. New this year is Winston's Wish, a charity supporting bereaved children.
Charities are working hard to make life better for all of us, so please give them your support.
Entry £1: children free. Coffee, cake and a super raffle provide entertainment and refreshment. All proceeds from sales from the stalls go direct to the charities – no middle men involved! Proceeds from refreshments go to the Village Hall Fund.

Professional theatre company Rain or Shine, hailed by ‘The Stage’ as “one of the best companies touring open air theatre" are set to delight family audiences once again this summer with their production of The Bard’s magical and mysterious masterpiece.
Shakespeare’s The Tempest is a tale that encompasses comic capers, romantic encounters, villainous plots and a host of apparitions and spirits, where a fantastic web of intrigue is woven.
Washed up on an unknown isle after a tempestuous storm at sea, survivors of a shipwreck are amazed to find themselves alive, without injury and wearing clothes that are dry and clean! For this is no ordinary isle. It is one ruled by a sorcerer who can control the elements, control minds and conjure up spirits at will. Welcome to Prospero's island, a place where much is not as it seems and long held secrets will be revealed...

Audiences are invited to bring along low-backed seating or rugs, and a picnic to maximise their enjoyment of the al fresco performances. The company travel across the UK from Alderney to Northumberland, and Wales to Norfolk, visiting some of the country’s most picturesque castles, stately homes and gardens imaginable.
Come and join us on Midsummer's Eve, Saturday June 20th for drinks (fizz, wine and soft drinks) and appetisers in Alderton Churchyard and a chance to enjoy jazzing middle of the road music by a Jazz Quartet, together with socialising with friends.
Tickets are £5 (for food) for adults and children over 10 years and children under 10 years £3.

This year we're also holding a photography competition on the theme of Alderton is a Way of Life. There's an entry fee of 50p per photograph with prizes for the winners of the adult and 16 and under classes. Entries should be submitted as prints to the Village Hall between 5-7pm on Friday 10th July or in advance to Ros Smith at 7 Church Road.
All are welcome and there is no entry charge.
Alderton residents, please bring your Gift Day envelopes with you. There will also be a box in the village shop and the church for donations. Please give generously to help us repair the bells in our village church and preserve it for the future.
Alderton's annual Charity Christmas Fair is on Saturday 8th November at 10am. With cards and gifts from National Trust, RSPB, Lifeboats, LINC, Cobalt Appeal, GWR and many more this is the only place you'll need to go for your card shopping. And perhaps more importantly we've raised over £10,000 for many worthy causes in the last 7 years!
Join us on Saturday 22nd November for an evening of fun-packed questions, pictures and music.
Teams are 6 people or join one on the night. There's a maximum of 14 teams so please let us know your team when you buy tickets from Roger and Carol at the October Gardeners Arms quiz or from Alderton Village Shop (after 1st October).
Tickets are £10 per person including supper. There's a full bar and raffle with all proceeds go towards the Village Hall running costs.
