MINUTES FROM PARISH COUNCIL MEETINGS The latest minutes can be found at: https://www.aldertonparishcouncil.org.uk/meetings-2025 FLOOD PREVENTION Further clearance work has been undertaken coming down from the hill and the measures appear to be operating well in the recent wet weather. Thanks go to the Dumbleton Estate and a local farmer for their cooperation and help with these improvements. PLANNING UPDATES Proposed Development – Land south of Beckford Road [now 32 houses] 24/00393/OUT The Road Safety Audit has been completed. There remain other issues which have been registered with Tewkesbury Planning by local residents and supported by a further submission from the Parish Council. Highways have yet to make a full response. Proposed Development – Land Behind 52-74 Willow Bank Road [ 48 houses] 2400801/FUL No further news. FLOOD PREVENTION Work has now been completed, and there seem to be noticeable improvements in the recent spell of heavy downpours. However, as previously indicated, it is not a golden bullet, and the situation will need to be monitored as we experience further downpours. USE OF COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE MONEY FROM DEVELOPERS In the New Year, villagers will be able to comment on how this money should be used. A village resident reported that he had set up a new Neighbourhood Watch Group for the village. Further details to follow. TRAFFIC SPEED A meeting has been held with Gloucestershire Highways to review traffic safety measures in the village. The first intention, when funding is available, is to introduce additional signage and road marking on Beckford Road as it enters the village. Other measures are under review. Work has started on the flood prevention measures on the hill, set out in the last newsletter. This will involve limited road closure on Beckford Road, probably on 27th/28th October, and temporary footpath diversions north of Beckford Road. The Gloucestershire Flood Prevention Officer has confirmed that this work will reduce the volume of surface water entering the village’s drainage system during periods of heavy and/or sustained rainfall. It is not a silver bullet, but it will reduce the severity and likelihood of impacts. NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH A village resident reported that he was investigating the possibility of reintroducing Neighbourhood Watch into the village. POLICE AND CRIME POLICE AND CRIME MEETING, HELD 8TH JULY 2025 The Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner and our local Police Inspector spoke about crime prevention and answered questions from residents. The Parish Council intends to send a representative to quarterly crime meetings organised by the Police.
